Jess Frith (they/them) is the Communications Lead for Pardis and the Sabeti Lab. Since joining the lab in October 2021, their responsibilities have included spearheading lab communications, participating in lab process & culture development – including engaging with the Broad IDEA Office to collaborate on DEI initiatives – , and working on the Operation Outbreak team both developing the textbook and working with the educational outreach team.
Jess received their B.A. and M.A. in International Affairs from Boston University in 2020, focusing on the intersection of global health and security. Their thesis topic highlighted sexual exploitation and abuse perpetrated by humanitarian workers against their beneficiaries, and the subsequent lack of accountability. Jess has a strong interest in the intersection of public health and human rights, and applies this interest and background through their work in the Sabeti Lab.
Outside of work, Jess enjoys traveling; relaxing with their dog, Scrappy; reading a nice book in the sun; or spending time with friends.
