Anne Piantadosi was a postdoctoral fellow in the Sabeti lab and an Infectious Disease physician at Massachusetts General Hospital. Anne studied infections of the central nervous system, using metagenomic sequencing to identify pathogens and explore viral molecular epidemiology. She has a particular interest in Powassan virus, a flavivirus transmitted by Ixodes scapularis ticks, which is being detected with increasing frequency in New England.
Anne completed her M.D./Ph.D. at the University of Washington, where she worked with Dr. Julie Overbaugh on studies of HIV superinfection and within-host HIV evolution. She completed medical training in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Infectious Disease in the combined MGH/BWH program. Anne is currently supported by an NIH K08 award.
