Tyler Dao is a PhD Candidate in Biological Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He works with the Shalek and Sabeti Lab on integrating genetic screens and single-cell transcriptomics to interrogate host-viral interactions and response. Broadly, he is interested in leveraging multimodal approaches to characterize the interplay between infectious diseases and immune response.
Tyler graduated from Stanford University where he studied Bioengineering. There, he worked with Professor Michael Lin’s lab on experimental and computational approaches to engineer protein binding interfaces and develop photo-switchable modules for optical control of protein activity.
In his free time, he enjoys running along the Esplanade, hiking, making travel plans, drinking tea and cooking.
